“We” are really just one guy.  My name is Ian Guch.  Nice to meet you!

I’m interested in lots and lots of stuff.  My initial college and graduate school education was in chemistry, and I work part-time as a high school chemistry teacher.  However, I’ve got loads of other interests, too.  To put them in one of my favorite things (a bulleted list):

  • I’m a professional writer.  No, I don’t mean this magazine, which is done just for my own entertainment.  I’ve written several curriculum books for chemistry teachers, as well as three books for Alpha publishing in the field of general and first year organic chemistry.  If you’re interested in learning more about chemistry, buy my books and make me rich.

  • I’m an internet dude.  My chemistry website, “The Cavalcade o’ Chemistry” is a site that gives away free chemistry resources and tutorials to students across the world.  The site currently receives 2.5 million hits a year and has been operating since 1998.

  • I’m a musician.  I’ve been playing bass in various punk rock bands for fifteenish years.  If you like punk rock and live in the DC area, email me for more information.

  • I’m interested in theology.  For no particular reason other than curiosity, I went and got a Master’s of Theological Studies from the Washington Theological Union.  For those of you who distrust religion, don’t worry – I’m not going to try to convert you with these “What’s the Big Idea” magazines.  Honest.

Anyhow, if you were wondering what kind of person would randomly make and distribute a free magazine about more or less random topics of interest, now you know.  If you want to learn any chemistry, or want to talk theology, or learn about good punk bands, or just want to say hello, hit me with an email!

Peace and best wishes,

Ian Guch
