Question: Ethanol is referred to as a renewable fuel but kerosene is not. Why?
Answer:
Ethanol is frequently referred to as "grain alcohol" in reference to how it is manufactured. Ethanol is made from the fermentation of corn or other starchy vegetables. Because you can always grow more vegetables, ethanol is renewable.
Kerosene, on the other hand, is made from oil. Because you have to pump crude oil out of the ground and there's no more oil once we pump it all out, it's not renewable.
