Acid neutralization is when the
H+ in an acid is converted to water by combining it with a base.
The general equation for this reaction is HA + BOH --> H2O
+ BA, where A is the anion from the acid and B is the cation from the base.
An example would be the neutralization of hydrochloric acid with sodium hydroxide:
HCl + NaOH
--> H2O + NaCl
