rules for determining the solubility of ionic compounds?
Answer:
- Ionic compounds containing
alkali metals or the ammonium ion are usually soluble.
- Acetates, nitrates, chlorates,
and perchlorates are soluble.
- Sulfates are usually soluble.
- Chlorides, bromides, and
iodides are soluble, with the exceptions of lead, silver, and some other
compounds.
- Sulfides and hydroxides are
generally insoluble as are carbonates, phosphates, and sulfites.
